How not to spoil your view with security barriers
10 January 2012
Verandas are a feature of many South Africa homes and the source of much pleasure and relaxation in our great climate. Houses, apartments, cluster homes and even park homes sport a semi-outdoor space to sit and unwind. Left unsecured, however, they can be an easy entry point for burglars. Fortunately there are a number of crime prevention security solutions for this that won’t spoil your view.
Install roller shutters that can be rolled up out of sight when not needed. Trellidor Rollerstyle security shutters are made from aluminium so need very little maintenance, are lightweight and easy to use, especially when fully automated. Choose perforated slats and you can allow in some light and air even when the shutters are closed on rainy or windy days. They can also be designed for windows.
Fit Trellidor Clear Guard screen doors to your veranda openings. The mesh screen construction lets you see outside clearly without compromising security, even when closed. They’re sleek and streamlined and can be manufactured to match the style of existing doors, whether bi-fold, sliding or French doors, and can be made into window screens too.
Use Trellidor Retractable Security gates to close up the space. They allow in plenty of fresh air and light without obstructing the view too much. These steel sliding gates stack neatly to one side when opened up and can be recessed into a wall cavity if planned for during the building phase. The security gates can be powder coated to suit your decor and windows can be secured in matching designs.
