Control seasonal shrinkage with Trellidor’s access control barriers

Shrinkage is a continual problem in just about any industry, from the bulk rump steak pack that goes missing somewhere between the delivery vehicle and the walk in fridge to reams of photocopy paper that disappear from the supply room.  High quality physical barriers are one of the most emphatic ways of controlling unauthorised access, and Trellidor has a number of solutions from which to choose.

"Reliable barriers create stress for thieves because of the time and noise involved in an attempt to break in.  The risk of discovery is a powerful deterrent to both outside criminals and untrustworthy employees. So closed and locked security barriers are an excellent way of avoiding theft in areas that can't be constantly patrolled," said Trellidor commercial manager Paul van Blerk.

Goods storage facilities, delivery areas, doorways into stock rooms, shop fronts and merchandise that has to have controlled access at certain times in compliance with government legislation can all be protected by Trellidor Retractable Security gates. They're easy to use and can be customised to suit the needs of their location.

"For example, we can recess the bottom tracks so that they provide safe passage to pedestrians as well as people in wheel chairs and comply with health and safety regulations.  We can also recess the gate stack into a wall cavity so that it is out of sight during trading hours, if required," said van Blerk.

"We've installed 8m wide, fully framed single gates to Medi+Rite outlets in Shoprite/Checkers stores throughout South Africa and they all slide smoothly into hidden recesses when the outlet is open for business," said van Blerk.  Good pharmacy practice guidelines dictate that access to pharmaceuticals is restricted after trading hours and Trellidor provides a workable solution.

Another option to guard against theft is Trellidor Rollerstyle roller shutters.  Steel roller doors are often both noisy and bulky to operate, but aluminium shutters are lightweight, low maintenance and can be fully automated and remote controlled.  Control options can be programmed to allow an operator to open a group of shutters individually or all together, depending on situational needs.

"You may, for example, want an employee to be able to open only one storage area while keeping others out of bounds," said van Blerk.  Other employees may be authorised to open all storage or delivery areas, so would have a remote control programmed accordingly.

In areas where aesthetics are important, Trellidor Clear Guard could be the answer to access control.  They're like invisible burglar bars, allowing clear views of who is coming and going.  They can also be locked, with restricted access to keys.  These security screens can be used at main entrances to retail outlets, offices, waiting areas and other locations where it's important for the premises to look accessible but remain secure.

In very high risk areas that are isolated at night and vulnerable to break-ins, Trellidor Retractable Security gates combine well with Trellidor Rollerstyle roller shutters to provide a formidable barrier to both thieves and their vehicles, which are sometimes used as battering rams.
