Trellidor partners Round Table 230 fundraising cycle tour05 October 2011
For the fifth year running, Trellidor has partnered Round Table Rivonia 230 in its major fundraising event of each year, supporting a team of cyclists riding from Johannesburg to Durban. “We covered 550 km in 5 days, the equivalent of an Argus Tour per day for five days, and were delighted by the support we received from Trellidor along the way,” said Kevin Bonner, Trellidor Gauteng Regional Manager and Chairman of Rivonia Table 230. The aim of the tour is to raise funds for The Mother of Peace Orphanage and the Just One Child (JOC) Orphanage, both in Johannesburg, and to create awareness of the plight of those whose lives are a daily struggle. “We raised in excess of R250 000 this year, and are very grateful to all those that made personal pledges. Special mention must go to Des and Jeanine Brown of Trellidor Highway (Hillcrest), who drove the entire route on Saturday, leading us into Durban like we were celebrities, and their children Hannah and Reece, who saved their pocket money as their donation. We’d also like to specially thank Trellidor Ladysmith, who gave us a very generous donation.” The cyclists’ route included stops at Standerton, Newcastle, Ladysmith and Pietermartizburg, with Trellidor franchises en route supplying snacks, support and fellowship. They were joined by Trellidor CEO Terry Dennison for the last leg of the tour on the Sunday, which ended in Durban. “On behalf of Round Table and all our various charities, I’d like to thank the following franchises for their participation in this event: Trellidor Newcastle (Pierre Scheepers); Trellidor Ladysmith (Rajesh Maharaj and Sunitha Singh); Trellidor Pietermaritzburg (David Glaister); Trellidor Highway (Des Brown); Trellidor Durban West (Sumashen Govender); Trellidor North Durban (Laird Anderson), and also Trellidor head office for their unbelievable support once again as our main sponsor,” said Bonner.
