Trellidor bins tins for Gogos03 August 2010 Staff at Trellidor's Phoenix Industrial Park factory and Durban North head office have been feverishly collecting tinned food on behalf of the Robin Hood Foundation's ‘Bin a Tin' campaign. "Every year we turn this campaign into an inter-departmental challenge to see who can contribute the most tins of food for households struggling against the effects of AIDS and poverty," said Trellidor brand and public relations manager Charlene Erasmus (pictured centre). This year the company really pulled out the stops, amassing a whopping 5 500 tins, 3 672 more than last year. "The last day of the challenge was madness! Staff phoned our suppliers and anyone they knew to match their contributions to this wonderful project. We're very grateful for their enthusiasm and generosity towards families fighting for survival." Some of Trellidor's suppliers that gave so generously include Elumatic Johannesburg, ToolQuip, SEP, Phoenix Steel, ACT and Fascor. Said Cindy Norcott, chairperson of the Robin Hood Foundation, "all tins collected go towards making up the ‘Gogo Bags' we distribute to grandmothers burdened with the responsibility of caring for orphaned grandchildren or deceased neighbours' children in poor communities in Inchanga, Lower Molweni, Chesterville, Shongweni and Hammarsdale."
