Trellidor opens Soweto franchise

01 December 2009

Trellidor has serviced the Soweto area for many years through its Johannesburg branch, but demand has grown to such an extent that it warranted the opening of a fully fledged showroom in Soweto. The new franchise, under the ownership of businessman Lloyd Mogotsi, opened its doors in December 2009, although Lloyd and his team have been trading since October last year. “This franchise has brought us closer to the community, which is one of the biggest and most dynamic in South Africa. We can now offer residents great service and a place to view all our security products. This is especially important when you’re offering security solutions. I’m sure this franchise is going to be a great success as in the three short months that they’ve been open, it has already over-shot predicted sales figures,” said managing director Andrew Thomas. The franchise is well positioned for passing traffic as it is on Chris Hani Road, near both a taxi rank and Baragwanath Hospital. Sales manager Hector Mayema lives in Soweto, so is always on hand for customer emergencies. He has many years of experience in the barrier security industry, as has administrator Thobello Mogale, who has been with Trellidor for a number of years. Giving back to the communities in which Trellidor operates is part of the company’s philosophy and this has come early on in the new franchise’s history. In December they completed the installation of sliding Trellidor security barriers to the doors and windows of the Ndlovu family’s new home. The family’s home burned down in August last year and has been rebuilt by generous sponsors. The house is located next door to Nelson Mandela’s old home in Vilikazi Street, and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was very involved in supporting the family through the tragedy. Some family members lost their lives as they were unable to get out of the burning house due to rigid security barriers on the windows. The newly installed sliding security barriers will eliminate this problem in the future.
